After years working in digital design, I found myself craving something beyond the screen—something I could hold, shape, and stitch into form. The screen is efficient, yes, but it often disconnects us from our bodies. I needed a way to reset—not just creatively, but physically. That’s when I started sewing.

At first, it was an experiment. But over time, it became a counterbalance. Working with fabric gave me a different kind of focus, a different kind of reward. Being able to handle and physically hold my creation was something I’d been missing after years of only seeing my work on a screen. The lack of an Undo button in sewing also pushed me to be more intentional with every move. It demands a different level of attention to detail—you can’t just hit Cmd+Z when you cut the fabric wrong or stitch the wrong way.

I don’t separate these two practices. After all, I’m trying to achieve the same thing: to solve a problem—just through different mediums. Both explorations require the same care, attention to detail, and empathy for the user. Where UX asks for flow and logic, sewing demands rhythm and feel. One sharpens how I think, the other reminds me how I sense.
